Morphing: Little dots (pixels) of colour that make a picture are one by one moved or changed so as to configure a new picture. When we watch these pixels move quickly and fluidly before our eyes we are witnessing a process called "morphing".
This computer age term is one that perfectly parallels Jesus' concept of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough. Matt. 13:33
Also, in Galatians 4:9 Paul comments, "My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you." The word formed in the NIV is the Greek word "morphe" - where we get the word morph.
The word is also used in biology lessons as we speak of a caterpillar changing to become a butterfly, "Metamorphosis"Paul writes in Romans 12:2a "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." The word "transformed" is "metamorhpe". (see also 2 Cor. 3:18) The transfiguration of Jesus is also called "metamorphoses"
Morphing is a concept of change and transformation. It perfectly depicts our desire to fulfil the Great Commission: To be agents of change to go into all the world pixel by pixel, and bring God's Kingdom into this world. A process we call "morphing".
What if the most outlandish and successful outreach initiatives have yet to be considered? If a better worship style is yet to be invented?
